The Writer Across the Genres

Wri·ter (n) a person who writes

Gen·re (n) a category of artistic composition, as in music or literature, characterized by similarities in form, style, or subject matter

Anyone and everyone can be a writer. When it comes to what you write and how well you write, well then, that’s another story. And genres? I would also argue that many of us are writers across the genres, especially now, in the 21st century. Do you write emails, text messages, or comment on social media? Congratulations. You are in fact a writer across the genres.

So, I’m a writer across the genres. BUT, and this is a long-winded but…I’d like to dedicate the very little time I have here on earth to become THE Writer Across the Genres.

I am a writer. That is the greatest truth I know about myself. And damnit, I’m going to do everything in my power to keep it true…even if it means being a bad writer at times.
